Becoming a member of the library? 

Anyone can become a member of the public library of Saint-Gilles, and it's for free. You only need to register at the desk with your ID-Card. In return, you receive a BRUNO-Card, which is valid in all Dutch public librarys of Brussels
If your library card is lost or stolen, you can receive a new one. Replacement library cards are 2,00€. 
Children age 14 and under, need to register in the companion of (one of) their parents. 

Loans and loan period

Borrowing books (up to 15)  and DVD's (maximum 2) is for free. The loan period is 3 weeks.

Renewals and placing a hold 

You can renew your items for another 3 weeks, by asking at the desk, sending an e-mail, calling the library or via the website. 
Have you seen a book, dvd, or another library item that you like, but is it already taken? You can place a hold, by asking at the desk, sending an e-mail, calling the library or via the website. We'll send you a text message when your item is available in the library. 

Fines

We charge fines on overdue materials. The penalty is 0,10€ per week per book, and 0,50€ per week per DVD. If you don't pay the fine, you will loose your borrowing privileges. 
From 8 days overdue, the library will send you a reminder. For this, we ask you 0,50€ administration costs. 

Lost or damaged items

You will be charched a replacement cost in consideration of the price of the lost or damaged material. We ask you to check your materials before loaning, and to report all damaged items at the desk. 

Interlibrary loan

Interlibrary Loan (IBL) gives you access to books and/or DVDs from other Dutch public librarys of Brussels. This service is for free.
